Glazing the wares, late 18th century

There were two methods of glazing, by immersion and by blowing the glaze on through a bamboo tube, for even application. In this picture small round wares are glazed by dipping them into large tubs of the glaze. The workmen made a rudimentary base for the pieces and grasping that, dipped them into the glaze.
