Abiodun Olawale Olaku is a contemporary Nigerian painter born in Lagos in 1958. He obtained an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and a Higher National Diploma (HND) from the prestigious Yaba College of Technology in 1979 and 1981 respectively, majoring in painting. Over the years, Abiodun has established himself as one Nigeria’s most accomplished oil painters due to his very detailed, naturalistic expression of landscapes and Nigerian cities. His style shows meticulous attention to detail that draws every viewer closer to their imagination in reality than ever. This has endeared him to the hearts of many at home and abroad and has made him a highly sought after artist by collectors. Abiodun has participated in numerous exhibitions in Nigeria including ". . . From Our Minds," Goethe Institute, Lagos, 1988 and "For Art's Sake," Soviet Cultural Centre, Lagos, 1989 among many others. He is a member of the Society of Nigerian Artist (SNA).
Glimpse of Glory is a tribute to famous Nigerian footballer, Samuel Sochukwuma Okwaraji, who died in active service to the nation during a world cup qualifier at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos on the 12th of August, 1989. Before he died he represented famous football clubs in Europe including AS Roma, VFB Stuttgart, Dinamo Zagreb among others. Sam Okwaraji, as he was famously called, was a true patriot who demonstrated true professionalism, team spirit, discipline and leadership on and off the pitch. This tribute reminds viewers of the sad demise of a patriotic hero, a source of national pride and inspiration to many.
