The globular cup is a container for the production and consumption of cocoa beverages. The fermented and toasted cocoa seeds were grounded into a greasy and damp dough, then dissolved in water and mixed with other ingredients; then the mixture was poured from above into a container placed on the ground, thus creating a surface lather, considered the most delicious part. The cup on display refers to chthonic-aquatic symbology: it shows the image of two deer surrounded by waves of water, while along the upper edge there are alternated panels containing terrestrial symbols and images of cormorants.
