Gold medal won by Shirley Strickland for 220x220x110x110 yards relay, 1950 Empire Games

Gold medal, "BRITISH EMPIRE GAMES / 1950", debossed on obverse, around an image of a helmeted winged lady holding aloft a laurel wreath with her right hand, and a trident held in her left. The reverse features leaves and flowers around the edge, with a small map of New Zealand inside a laurel wreath at the bottom. Engraved in the centre is text, "WOMEN / RELAY 660 YARDS / S. STRICKLAND / AUSTRALIA". Comes with presentation box.
