Gold medallion awarded to Frank Beaurepaire for rescuing a shark attack victim at Coogee Beach in 1922. Medallion has blue and white ribbon with a metal bar at the top and bottom edges. Top bar has pin attachment on reverse. Obverse of medallion features scene of an angel overlooking a victim being assisted by a rescuer. Inscription in border reads, "SUNT LACRYMAE RERUM SUNT ET SUAPRAEMIA LAUDI". Reverse has decorative border of a life ring framing the inscription which reads, "AWARDED / TO FRANK BEAUREPAIRE / FOR AN ACT OF BRAVERY / COOGEE BEACH / 4TH Feb. 1922". Text in life ring reads, "ROYAL SHIPWRECK RELIEF & HUMANE SOCIETY / OF N.S.W.".
