This angels is one of a set that can be found in the chancel, where only those leading the service and the choir could go. All the chancel fittings designed by Victorian architect Sir Arthur Blomfield (1829 – 1899). The roof is divided into boarded panels which, on the eastern half of the roof, were painted with angels on a starred background by Heaton, Butler and Bayne an English firm better known for stained glass.
