Unearthed in the Five-dynasty tomb in the construction site of the Post-office staff dormitory building on Chengdong road of Yangzhou city in 1997, this Buddha statuette is made of a chased gold plate. Sitting on a lotus flower in full bloom, the Buddha with high Ushnisha, clad in kasaya decorated with pearl-like dots, looks calm and benevolent. Behind the Buddha erects an oval-shaped gold screen with a pointed tip and a rim composed of lotus petals in gold. The area surrounding the Buddha on the screen is covered with intertwining vines of leaves and flowers, on which there are super-thin chased lines. Tiny pierces can be seen on this piece.
