This is the Golden Gate of Kyiv – the main entrance through which one could get into the old Kyiv. The Gate was part of defensive walls which encircled Kyiv during the reign of Prince Yaroslav Mudryi. Aside from Golden Gate there were also Lach Gates which stood where now the Maidan Nezlezhnosti is and Zhydivska Gate on what is now L’vivs’ka square. The modern Golden Gate is a historic reconstruction that was conducted in 1832. Inside is an exposition dedicated to the construction of the Golden Gate.
