This embroidery piece is based on the painting by the heavyweight modern Chinese painter Qi Baishi (1864-1957 AD). Though with common subjects such as gourds and petunias, this painting, with well-designed allocation of elements, exudes the beauty of rustic countryside and the enjoyment of daily life.
Having finished the entire processes of painting selection, foundation making and embroidery, the artisan Lu Junjian succeeded, by use of correct selection of colors and skillful techniques, in vividly illustrating the beautiful petunias with red flowers and ink leaves, and the heavy gourds combing full and broken lines, creating a real delight to see.
