Newspaper article from The Advocate. On January 5, 2005 Governor Kathleen Blanco officially pardened Rev. Betty Claiborne and her late sister, Pearl George for their part in the integration attempt at the City Park public pool in 1963. Claiborne, George and three men were arrested on July 23, 1963. Claiborne spent 10 days in jail.
