Black and white postcard showing the Grand Theatre on the High Street in Fulham, London, which opened in 1897. The architect was W. G. R. Sprague, who went on to build a number of theatres in London’s West End which survive to this day. In this image, a large sign reading ‘Closed Reopening Early Autumn’ hangs above the theatre’s balcony. The theatre did reopen and was also used as a cinema until it closed for good in 1950.
