Great White Egret (Ardea alba), Isla Santay, Ecuador

The Great White Egret (Ardea alba) is a bird distributed across most of the tropical and warmer temperate regions of the world.
This bird measures 1 m when standing up, It has a long yellow beak and its legs are completely black.
The Great White Egret feeds on fish, toads and other small vertebrates. When it flies or goes to fish, its neck is gathered in the shape of a very open “S”. It patiently waits for its prey to approach, then shoots its neck at full speed at it.
Nests are built as colonies in trees close to water.
