Excavated on Shanyuan road of Yangzhou city in 1983, this cup in the shape of four sunflower petals features an opening rim that expands outwards, a curved belly, and a ring-shaped base whose rim also expands a little bit. Its exterior belly and base are adorned with two parallel sunken lines. On the interior side of the bottom lies a scale-covered dragon sculpture with a pointed mouth spitting out a pearl, four stretching claws and a short tailed curly beneath the body. Around the dragon there are S-shaped cloud motifs. A harmonious yet eye-catching combination of green and white glaze all over the piece makes it one of the rare treasures among ceramics made by Gongxian County Kiln in Henan province.
