Morinola Balogun is a visual artist from Lagos, Nigeria, whose passion for art was nurtured by her grandfather, a distinguished visual artist. Despite growing up in a STEM-focused family, she found her calling in the arts, influenced by the rhythms of fuji music and her early explorations in drawing.
Her artistic journey deepened during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping her discover her unique voice. Specializing in mixed media, Morinola combines paper, fabric, and acrylics to tell stories inspired by African culture. Her work, rooted in intersectional feminist ideals, celebrates the beauty and diversity of women, portraying their varied experiences and identities.
Through her art, Morinola captures the essence of African heritage, blending tradition and modernity to create a dialogue that transcends boundaries.
