Portrait of Gustav II Adolph, the King of Sweden who made Sweden a great power in the 17th century. In Estonia, he is best rememebered as the founder of the oldest still active school, Gustav Adolfi Gümnaasium (est 1631) and the oldest Estonian university in Tartu (est 1632).

The painting is a gift to the Brotherhood of Blackheads.
