They were José (1819-1866), Pedro (1822-1872) and Manuel (1837-1917) Gálvez Egusquiza, born at Cajamarca, Peru, who held different public, political and academic positions. The best known of them was José Gálvez, who advocated for the abolition of slavery and died in the Combate de Dos de Mayo.
