Lindsay

Laura's work plays with light, reciprocating the style of the Dutch Masters, replacing candlelight with spotlights. In Lindsay, the portrait features a woman wearing a green satin jacket, against a dark background. the chiaroscuro is reminiscent of Caravaggio and other Baroque artists. She is confronting the audience, and is wearing a silk bomber jacket; the green of the material can be symbolic of greed, jealousy, money, luck, abundance, or life. The green complements the pink and more red flesh tones selected by the artist, and the reflective quality of teh silk adds dimension to the work.
