Egyptian assay office hallmark register from 1932 indicating the location of hallmarks on the popular designs of kirdan necklaces of the day. Egypt has a long history of jewellery production, but there haven’t always been rules to control the quality of the items made. Over the past thousand years, laws have been created and refined, leading to the system in place today, one that ensures the authenticity of each individual piece of jewellery.
