This room facing the gardens, preserves the original vaults. It is known too as “Celebration Room", due to the celebration of the wedding of Charles V with Isabel of Portugal. The socket of polychrome tiles of ßat was done by Cristobal Augusta in 1577 for the Renaissance restoration made during Felipe II reign, and where he wanted to perpetuate the memory of his father.
We can see in the central tiled panels: cherubims, chandeliers, animals, baskets of ßowers, fruits, and the portrait of a couple which have been identißed as Carlos V and Isabel of Portugal. Besides the central scene appear mythological ßgures. Crowning the scene, it’s the “Plus Ultra" emblem, alternating with the coats of arms of the Spanish kingdoms belonging to the Empire of Charles V. The paintings on canvas that decorate the room were painted by Gustavo Bacarisas, commissioned by the king Alfonso XIII to decorate the palace for the Ibero-American exhibition held in Seville in 1929.
