Hampton Court Palace is a palace in the most south-westerly part of London, on the left bank of the River Thames in the borough of Richmond upon Thames. From 1528 to 1737, it served as the favoured residence of English and later British monarchs. Originally built in the Tudor style, the castle was largely remodelled in the English Baroque style at the end of the 17th and in the 18th century. Its imposing size, magnificent interiors and extensive gardens make it one of the most important examples of both the Tudor and Baroque styles in England today. (Sonja Puras)
