Hans Bol - De Grote Markt

Hans Bol (1535-1593) was a painter from Mechelen wo fled his residence Antwerp during the revolt against Catholic Spain. He frequently visited Bergen op Zoom and made this miniature painting of the Grote Markt around 1580. It is the oldest known painting of this square and contains a representation of the belfry of the Lakenhal, of which no other images are known
