After returning from Lanka, Hanuman gave a detailed description of the city to Rama and Sugriva. On hearing hanuman’s account, a bridge setu bandha was constructed to reach Lanka. Here, in this spectacular Malwa painting, the artist has tried to capture different moments and the entire composition is divided into three horizontal registers the topmost is the sky rendered in flat cobalt blue which demarcates with curved horizontal line in white typical of Malwa style. Second panel where the significant event is taking place the Hanuman is shown carrying Rama and Angad is carrying Lakshmana on their shoulders against the vermillion background crossing the bridge. The army of vanaras proceeded with Sugriva and the bear allies carrying their weapons. The artist has tried to capture the moment of crossing the bridge and it is clearly evident through the movement of foot of Hanuman and Angad. In the foreground is the sea, rendered with aquatic plants painted stylistically and painting is surrounded with foliated border in red.
