While spending the summer of 1908 in Brittany in the north of France, Józef Pankiewicz (1866-1940) created a series of views of the harbour and marina of Ville Close in Concarneau. Pankiewicz was interested by the rich colours of the sky, water, and ships seen from afar and lit by the horizontal rays of the setting sun.
