Harihara in Hindu mythology represents Vishnu (Hari) and Shiva (Hara) and it also denotes the unity of the two of three Supreme Beings, with Brahma making up the other. In this reproduction, the artist makes a playful representation of Lord Vishnu and his consort Sridevi on an elephant offering their blessings to Lord Shiva and Parvati's young son Ganapathi. Quite simply, Hari Har Bhet means the meeting of Vishnu and Shiva.
