Here we see a Neo-Gothic style harp with a laminated wood soundboard, 46 strings and 7 double movement pedals. The column is decorated with a gold leaf and figurines of chapels with four angels, two of them supporting phylacteries, and the two others playing the horn and the harp. The foot is ornamented with claw shapes on the front side and two tigers on the back. / This harp is quintessential of the Romantic Era, both stylistically and mechanically. By mid 19th Century, it had become a model for manufacturers. / The Manufacturer Sebastian Erard, who invented the double pedal system, was among the most important piano and harp dealers of the French Royal House. His name may be found on the neck of the instrument. / The piano and harp were characteristic of the Romantic Era, during which time the harp was rediscovered and became the common instrument for social gatherings.
