Harvard Circle Fountain is one of several artworks in the Art in Public Places collection that are explicity functional as well as sculptural. In this instance, "Harvard Circle Fountain" is a landmark feature and fountain in Harvard Circle, connecting Broadway St, Harvard Blvd, and River Rd in South Toledo that stands out in its residential home against the backdrop of the Maumee River. Thefountain is indivicative of the style of artist Hans Van de Bovenkamp, who imagines gestural and surreal forms with a careful balance of weight and weightlessness - in this case, forms stretcing upwards reference both the passage of clouds and fungal patterns of growth.
