Since Heinkel was prohibited from building airplanes after World War II, the plant switched to producing small-sized vehicles instead. The Heinkel “Tourist” became a very popular motor scooter. With its four-stroke engine, 3-speed transmission, a comfortable bench seat, and load capacity of up to 200 kg, the “Tourist” was ideal as a scooter for longer tours. A spare wheel and a luggage carrier made travel safer and more comfortable. Test riders particularly praised the scooter’s good handling in curves as well as the long time between repairs.
