Hestercombe House and Parkland 1789.

Little is known of the last few years of C. W. Bampfylde’s life, and although it is likely that he continued to suffer awfully from the gout, he continued working and painting as this watercolour and a view of Saltram House in Devon, dated 1791, suggest. Bampfylde died childless at Hestercombe on August 23, 1791, leaving the estate to his nephew, John Tyndale.
