Hibernian finally ended a 114-year wait to lift the Scottish Cup by defeating Rangers in a 3-2 thriller at Hampden Park in 2016. At this time, both clubs were playing in the Scottish Championship. Club captain David Gray scored the winning goal in added time to clinch the trophy. The victory also won Hibernian a spot in Europe the following season.
