Giovanni d’Andrea (Johannes Andreae) was a prominent figure in European canon law and a university lecturer in Padua and Bologna in the later Middle Ages. A follower and active agent in the promotion of the cult of St Jerome, d?Andrea published Hieronymianus, a hagiographical account of the influential saint. This manuscript features several historiated initials and ornate partial borders.
