Trials of high definition television cameras by the BBC at Alexandra Palace in 1990. The site of the first, then high definition, television service in 1936, the studios at Alexandra Palace continued to be the site of television experiments, with trials of outside broadcasts and colour. Even after closing in 1980 the site continued its legacy of innovation with trials of newer high definition, which would not become the regular service until a decade later.
