Along with bones and scapels and a small photograph of the deceased (near the lower edge), this image reproduces Aubry's excoriating letter to the Parisian newspaper"Le Courrier Fraçais." In it, Aubry recounts the 'sad story' of his neighbor, Monsieur C. Jordan, who fell ill and sought treatment at the public hospital. After being ignored for many hours, M. Jordan went home. Returning to the hospital the next day,he was again neglected by the hospital staff and soon died. Aubry's letter condemns the French healthcare system and the press for failing to report the tragic and negligent accident.
