The hog deer (Axis porcinus) derives its name from its hog-like manner of ducking through obstacles with its head hung low. When threatened, hog deer bark to warn others before they flee in different directions. In the ASEAN region, the endangered hog deer can only be found in Cambodia and Thailand, though sightings have been reported in Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Viet Nam.
