Holder for a cat mummy

This wooden cat is a receptacle for a cat mummy. It was made in two parts and hollowed out. The mummy is still inside it and is very small. The small cat was probably bred especially for sale to people visiting the temple and killed as soon as possible. The wooden figure was fashioned with great care. Its head was even embellished with a layer of gold.
