Juliana Stein was born in Passo Fundo (Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil), in 1970. She graduated with a major in psychology from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) in 1992. After graduation, she lived for two years in Italy, where she attended courses of Art History, Drawing and Watercolor Painting. Stein began to photograph in the late 90's. Among the exhibitions she participated in, a few are "Montevideo's Biennial", Uruguay (2014); “Place of Residence”, Shangai, China (2012); “29° São Paulo's Biennial” (2010); “Quebéc's Biennial”, Canada (2010); “Kaubas Photo Festival of Light Kaunas”, Lithunia (2010); “Festival Encontros da Imagem”, Braga, Portugal (2009); “62° Salão Paranaense”, Brazil (2007); “Fundazione Triennale di Milano”, Italy, (2007); “Festival Internazionale di Roma”, Italy, (2003); “Photo España Festival”, Madrid, Spain (2003); “Itaú Cultural Itinerant Exhibition”, Brazil (2002); “M21 Project”, Langenlois, Austria (2001) e “3ª International Biennial of Photography in Curitiba” (2000), Brazil. In 2001, Stein received an award for her exhibition at Itaú Cultural. Her work is part of several collections at the Museum of Photography in Braga (Portugal), Museum of 21st Century in Langenlois (Austria), Oscar Niemeyer Museum, Cultural Foundation of Curitiba and Museum of Contemporary Art of Paraná, in Curitiba (Brazil). Currently, she lives at Curitiba (Parana, Brazil).
