Homelessness is a work by the cartoonist Joan Cornellá (Spain, 1981). The Catalan illustrator, inspired by figures such as Robert Crumb and Daniel Clowes, has developed a colourful and joyful visual language. However, the initial luminosity of his comic strips hides crude reflections on such dark topics as suicide, drug addiction and death. The empty smiles of characters constantly exposed to traumatic situations give rise to the morbidly funny stories that are the backbone of Joan Cornellá’s works. His proposal shakes the foundations of political correctness through irony and black humour.
