Nairobi, Kenya

Hoop made by men and used by them in a game called competitive. This game was played after the men had gone on a raid and had won. On their return they killed bulls and feasted on them and drunk much beer. They then held this competition to show off in front of the women as they wanted. The men divided into two teams facing each other, sometimes on the opposite sides of a stream. In turn the members of one team hurled the hoop, when it began to roll along the ground. A member of the opposite team had to hurl his wooden spear through the centre of the hoop and into the ground without stopping the hoop.
