The Dominion Chemist’s house was another stately home on the CEF grounds. Long time Dominion Chemist, Mr. Frank T. Shutt was the first resident.This image shoes the house as it looked in 1885 (it was demolished in 1934).
Shingle-style architecture was popular between 1880 and 1900, precisely when the CEF was being constructed. Buildings in this style are usually wood, and one of the goals is to blend in with a natural landscape.
