Large round gold vermeil hinge-lidded inkwell, on the heavily ornamented lid of which is the coat of arms of the House of Windsor. Inscribed on interior of inkwells lid: "To / President Franklin Roosevelt / as a souvenir of my visit to the / United States of America / from George R. I. [engraved signature] / 8th - 11th June 1939." Interior of inkwell is fitted with off-whites sponge-like material in the center of which is a brass and opaque glass inkwell surrounded by three protruding brass pen holders. King George VI president FDR with this House of Windsor gold inkwell during the British Royal visit of June 1939, made by Garrard & Co. Ltd. of London. FDR Library Museum Collection, MO 1946.34.1.
