A vast uninhabited area where Makta Ghalib Jang Bahadur and few stepwells are only visible on the map. There was a system of land tenure in the Telangana region, under which the govt land varying in size, either from small holdings to a whole village or group of villages, were given on a fixed rent to bring the new lands under the cultivation. The holder was known as Maktadars, were locally powerful landlords. So, such land obviously was called as Makta land and in due course, came into existence that calling any area part of Makta land along with the holder name. Stepwells were developed mainly for the storage purpose especially in the arid regions like Deccan. It was easy for the people to get the access as well as manage the groundwater than with big well and tank.
