Quadric surface (i.e. defined by an equation of degree 2). Its vertical sections are hyperbolas and its horizontal sections are ellipses. The surface has two families (rulings) of straight lines (red and blue, respectively). Inside the hyperboloid the so-called asymptotic cone is represented in green.
