Mire en mi interior is a work (I look inside me) by Andrés Rábago (Madrid, Spain, 1947). The cartoonist and painter is recognised as a fundamental figure in understanding and recounting the history of Spanish illustration. Since 1990, the artist from Madrid has been working under the pseudonym El Roto, publishing, in daily newspapers and the national press, a small but sharp vignette reflecting on the socio-political state of the world. Sinking its roots in the Castilian alleluias of the 18th century, irony, humour and aim define the work of El Roto, who with elegance and simplicity reveals in two brushstrokes the wounds and scars of contemporary society.
