The artist spent four months visiting shelters as well as non-governmental organizations that provide assistance and support to women and other identities that have been victims of gender violence in Puerto Rico. During this period, she engaged the communities through games, workshops and conversations, inviting each participant to construct a doll as a self-portrait that embodies their experience of violence and, eventually, healing. The dozens of dolls that comprise I’m Gonna Get You… Body, Woman, Rupture make up a solid piece of collective authorship that makes visible and denounces the magnitude of the intensity of the problem of gender violence in Puerto Rico, as well as its complexity of possible solutions.
