In winter, water vapour from Montmorency Falls, near Quebec City, turns into a spectacular curtain of ice, and a huge frozen mound accumulates that once drew avid toboganners. Known as the "ice cone," this extraordinary phenomenon became a popular subject in Quebec painting.
