The Ikeda Award was given to high school graduates of each school in the prefecture who excelled in their studies. It was founded when the Ikeda family of the old Tottori feudal clan made financial contributions for educational subsidies from 1902 to 1945. A certificate and a folding fan (or inkstone case) were presented to eligible graduates.
