Il fiume rosso was produced during the 2020 period of quarantine, when many countries around the world went into lockdown to tackle the spread of Covid-19. It’s a personal response to crisis, uncertainty, and altered states of being.
The work comes from a process of words, maps and thoughts that in turn give life to new reflections, in a journey that never comes to an end. The different types of paper are combined to build a plot, a map of close and distant links between words and images, which are also deposited on the surface of the wall. An organism of signs that can be expanded each time. The red river implies a connection, a red thread between things, which through my lines, is transformed into the metaphor of a river, of a branch. A natural element but also of thought, a collector of elements that inevitably flows." Giorgia Abbati
