This illustration by Roberto Alvim Corrêa appears in the first French edition of La guerre des mondes (The war of the worlds), printed in 1906. Wells considered the illustrations by Brazilian painter Henrique Alvin-Correa to be superior to those found in the English language editions printed previously.
This copy is one of a limited edition of 500, signed by the illustrator.
