Born in 1947 in Ikere-Ekiti, Nigeria, Niyi Osundare is a prolific poet, dramatist and literacy critic. With degrees from University of Ibadan, Leeds and York University, Osundare is renowed for his commitment to socially relevant art and artistic activism and believes that, given their historical and social circumstances, the African writer can hardly afford not to be political. Kunle Ajibade talked to Niyi Osundare about his life and work.
