Indigenous Community Members, Federation Square, Melbourne, 2018 © Cathrin Plunkett, photographer.
On 19 August 2018, Indigenous community members are standing at a Gunditjmara campfire at Federation Square, a campfire which is a symbol of resistance, coming together and honouring their community. Despite the shadowy obscuring smoke, to me the campfire and the community presence is a reminder of the endurance and the visibility of the Victorian Koorie community in our midst.
