This book provides detailed explanations on difficult characters, phrases, and contents of The Repentance Ritual of Great Compassion, and it also contains the opinions of various scholars. It was published with movable metal type at Heungdeoksa Temple in Cheongju even before the publication of Jikji, but there is no extant copy of it. However, Cheongju Early Printing Museum has in its keeping a copy of this book printed with woodblock that was carved in relief based on its movable metal type counterpart. This book is an important source that tells us of the existence of the movable type font called "Heungdeoksa font," which was used to print Jikji in 1377.
